ABOUT ME

Aside from publishing on a number of aspects of Irish literature, especially James Joyce and J.M. Synge, I am also an avid chess player and cyclist.

While I am able to supervise graduate and postdoctoral projects on a range of topics in Irish studies, modernism, and urbanism/ecological issues, I tend to focus my own research on Irish modernist and contemporary writing and European modernism, and so would be a good fit for topics on related areas.  I also work in the areas of postcolonial and nationalist literatures, urbanism and spatial dialectics, and, more recently, have become interested in the ways in which crisis is posited as the normal state of the modern world within modernist literature.
